Who are we Salt Life Fishing is a family-run Garden Route fishing adventure, owned and operated by Mossel Bay local, Justin McCarthy. He has over 30 years of experience in saltwater fishing and has been the skipper for various fishing charters and marine research expeditions for over a decade. Our team proudly adopts ethical fishing practices and respects both the fish and the marine environment. Our vessel As a SAMSA registered surveyor, safety is our highest priority and our boat is kept in tip-top condition. Wildlife viewing is a bonus for our charter guests, and you may spot dolphins, seals, whales, orcas, turtles, albatross and more during your fishing trip. What to bring You’ll need water and snacks, and we recommend you bring a hat and sunglasses, plus extra layers of clothing in the winter months. We provide all the necessary equipment, tackle and bait. Please note that the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment requires all fishers to apply for either an annual or a temporary fishing permit.
